District 6540 is the northern third of the State of Indiana, a state noted for agricultural products, automobile manufacturing and related suppliers, and exceptional educational institutions. The district hosts a very large Amish community in LaGrange and Grabill, has dozens of lakes ideal for swimming, boating, and fishing. Fort Wayne is the second largest city in the state with many attractions, while the western edge of the district is adjacent to Chicago, one of the largest and most exciting cities in the United States. Lake Michigan to the north is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world, with outstanding boating and fishing opportunities. Nearby Indianapolis features a premier auto race, the Indianpolis 500. Additional professional sports are in Indianapolis and Chicago, including the world champion baseball team, the Chicago White Sox. You will find that sports play a big part in the life of a secondary school student.

A warm welcome awaits a student assigned to District 6540. The district offers many opportunities for outdoor sports, the arts, and educational opportunities. Rotary here has a fine tradition of support for exchange students and many return here for higher education.
